Hakosuka Heaven

30 Mar 2009

These classic little cars are some of my favourites. Nimble, stout, and just plain raw. This video sends chills up my spine when I hear that exhaust note…cannot fathom how it would hit me in person. I would absolutely love to have one as a project car one day, but they are really rare and super expensive to purchase if you do find one. Here are a handful of pictures as well as a segment from BMI’s Fuji Fast Volume 9 for you to enjoy.

Clip originally from BMI Volume 9, Fuji Fast, one of my favourite volumes.

Also, I am a fan of 510’s/Bluebirds. These fancy me as well…

Well that is it. I have lost my USB cord for my camera so I will not be able to post pictures that I have personally taken until I have found it. And I do have some to put up. Oh well, until next time. Happy motoring.

Yeah, bland.

I can officially say that I am part of the unemployed mob, as of this past wednesday. What a rough time to get let go from your job. Oh well, everything happens for a reason. Oh yeah I was passing through honda-tech today and saw how cheap Type-R’s are going for now…makes me wish I just waited and got one of those. I got ripped on my car.

irr1
Sort of off topic, but this is a local band (Irreversible) that I listen to and will be seeing play this wednesday. If you like the sludge/experimental sounding noise or are open-minded about finding new types of music/bands/artists, then give them a listen. Caution - your brain may deteriorate.

That is about it. Too lazy to post anything else.

This is a classic video to me. It is aged but still amazing in my opinion. The developemental states of the NSX and one of the world’s greatest drivers ever, Ayrton Senna. Enjoy.

Okay, I logged onto Honda-Tech today for the first time in a while and was looking at the picture thread on the Integra forum. Almost all of the members’ Integras are just eye-sores. Even the ones that have dumped a lot of money into them are still gross and just done wrong and distastefully (in my opinion). I cannot stand seeing a car that has had a lot of money put into motor and suspension work then rocking Drag or Rota wheels. Come on, are you serious? There was one guy that posted his and in the first picture he had Black Racing wheels, and I was like “okay, not bad”…then he had another picture where he was rocking Konig Monsoons and that disgusted me…then the next picture was of his Integra rocking SSR MS1-Rs…Man, what the hell. You have a set of Black Racings then SSRs and THEN KONIGS?? GET OUT! I am also getting sick of all these Hondas that rock everything they can that they think is “JDM” just for the bling factor. Or the guys with USDM front Integras with the JDM badges and emissions stickers all over the place. Brnnnt! I do not know about the next guy, but my preferred taste is simple, not flashy, but can perform extremely well. Pretty much like Niikura-san’s approach from Mine’s. His cars are not blinged out, but he builds some of the quickest track monsters – prime example being the R34. Ichishima-san’s cars are also good examples. Nearly stock exterior look but can fly around a track or blast through touges easily. But as we all know, most of the bullshit hype stuff is state-side because it is the “in” thing. And that is fading out fast. Whenever I see a car (mainly Honda) ‘roided out “JDM” style it does not break my neck like it would most people. Oh well, they can do their own thing. Another thing that irritates me is people that have a boosted Honda then rock Spoon parts or decals. I do not think I need to go any further with that one. Just my opinion though.

Alright, done. Goodnight.

Well, bad news. I did not have my camera with me the night I went to the car show, so no post on that. I may be going some time this coming weekend so if I do, then I will post about it then. Also, the EvoIX feature fell through. The owner does not drive the car in the rain and it was raining all weekend. I will try to get together with him another time. Just been a crazy weekend, no time to make posts. Got my new tires put on this past friday, a set of Neo Gens. They are pretty nice. Did not have time to get them aligned so their full potential has yet to be realized. Possible mountain run this coming weekend. But I pretty much worked my ass off this past weekend and caught up on sleep. Been looking at a few schools to get my graduate degree at. Time to really start buckling down with studying, saving money,  and getting back into school.

Here is a tuning shop that has attracted a lot of attention – Rauh-Welt, Japanese tuner specializing in Porches. I love their site’s layout and the imaging and feel it reflects. Really high-end feeling. Simple but effective. I have really just started to realize how much imaging and visual appeal determines the way a car or company is perceived. This particular company has become one of my favourites. Their cars are just so BOSS looking and mega-tough. Here are a few pictures:

Nothing new to quite a few people, but it is something that I think is awesome. Definitely a shop I would like to visit in the future.

So, we are all familiar with the global economic situation. Every industry is a microcosm of it. I was surfing around tonight and found out that Super Autobacs has filed Chapter 11. First, Trust and now Super Autobacs. Sucks really bad. A lot of people panic and think that the world is going to end, but in all reality (no matter how bad it gets), it is just a cycle. A comparison I think of is a forest catching fire and regrowing. At least the Tokyo Auto Salon was not too bad. Mugen brought out their concept NSX-RR, Spoon debuted their LHD NSX-R conversion package, both Mine’s and Zele brought out their Z34’s and GT-R’s, HKS Kansai showcased their EVO X and GT-R, Amuse had their GT-R there, a variety of European luxary cars blinged out with diamond-studded exteriors were there, and some cars sporting the new trend of having fat wheel lips with the whole wheel (lip included) painted. Check out GT Channels coverage of the show and also their massive photo album of the show. In the next two or three years, I hope to go to TAS for my first time and would like to make it an annual thing to attend.

Speaking of Power House Amuse, I found out recently that Hideki Tanabe, owner/president/tuner/driver of Amuse, passed away late last year. I never got the luxary to meet him, but it was still pretty sad when I read about it. I was watching the Touge Showdown 280 (BMI, Rotary Reborn volume) segment just last night and his orange S2000 is one of my favourite cars that he created. I mean an absolutely flawless machine. If Tsuchiya said that there is nothing wrong with it, then you know it is perfect. The GT1 (aka S2300) is an incredible machine as well. He is one of my favourite tuners and I get a lot of inspiration from his builds and the train of thought and passion he poured into his cars. But it is weird that people can just slip from this world like that, like Tanabe-san did. Kind of makes you grateful for what you have, never knowing when you will leave.

Tomorrow is going to be a big day. I got a VIP pass to the opening night of the AJC Int’l Auto Show in Atlanta. I am hoping that the new performance based models will be there, namely the GT-R, Z34, S2000 CR, Evo X, and IS-F. I have seen them all, minus the CR, in person. But to stand there studying them and sit inside them is different. Surely it is no TAS, but it will still be fun and interesting to see the new models for the future. Many pictures and such will be posted this weekend about the event. Also I will be featuring a pretty nice Evo IX. My first [of many, I hope] feature so I will try my best.

Alright, I will leave you guys with a sneak-peek video I found from the new BMI that was released last month. Time to up my collection soon, I have about three volumes that I want to purchase. Enjoy!

First Post!

11 Mar 2009

Good evening and welcome to my blog. I will be using this as means to post news regarding the tuning industry, to feature cars and events, posting information about my team/crew I roll with,  things I think are cool that I find related to tuning and thoughts about certain things tuning related, and other stuff along those lines.

Here is a video that I found from a JDM Insider episode that really gets my adrenaline pumping.

Be on the look out for two big posts coming within the next week. This coming weekend is packed with VIP Access to the AJC Int’l Auto Show and a feature on a local’s stealthy Evo IX MR.

Until next time…
