Anyway, today I replaced the passenger HID bulb (pain in the ass, might I add). Did that and then decided that it would be a good time to clean off the headlamp lens on the same side. Went and got the cleaning kit for $20 and it took a little over 2 hours. Sure, that may sound like a long time, but once you see how good it came out you’ll definitely agree that the 2 hours was well worth it. The lens seriously looks like a brand new OE factory part. It’s crazy. Okay, time for pics:

Okay, so here’s the passenger lens that I worked on. You can see the nasty, aged yellow plastic that’s been exposed to the elements for 11 years. Gross.

Here’s the driver side assembly lens. It was replaced by previous owner, so it looks relatively perfect.

First stage sanding begins. This is using a 500 grit paper. Did about 3 or 4 passes with this one.

Here’s what second stage sanding came out like. This was done with 800 grit paper. For this stage, 8 passes were made and residue was wiped away between each pass.

Third stage sanding resulted in this. Almost there. Here, a 3000 grit pad was used and I made 10 passes for this stage. I wanted to do more, but the pad was completely saturated with residue and it would be pointless if I kept going.

Wiping down the lens with a damp cloth, getting it ready for polishing stage. That’s a make-shift breathing mask I made with a shirt hahaha. I wasn’t trying to breathe in that nasty stuff! I tried wearing safety glasses but they kept fogging up. Thankfully my eyes didn’t get irritated.

And here’s the finished product right after polishing. After I took this picture I took a clean cloth and wiped the lens down and it was even shinier after doing that.

Here’s the passenger side lens with the HID lit after completing the cleaning.

And for comparison, here’s the driver side lens that was not cleaned. Looking pretty damn good, don’t you think?

Clutch came in about a week and a half ago, got it for $75 shipped and has 35,000mi on it. Flywheel came in today, got it for $100 shipped and it’s been resurfaced by the performance shop that sent it to me. Both parts are original OE Honda factory parts.

Kami Speed is a shop in Orlando, FL. In their infancy they specialized in Subaru and still do, but they have since opened their doors to working on and carrying parts for all other applications. They carry top of the line, authentic, Japanese only parts. Shops that cater to this side of tuning/racing (the true, deep sincere side) are normally located close to a track, mountain regions, or out on the west coast somewhere. Having said that, if you know about FL’s scene, then you know that a shop like this is extremely rare and to some of us, may seem out of place. But they are the real deal.
